Meet Norris D Smith CPA, LLC

Norris D. Smith has over forty-five years of business experience in industries ranging from Public Accounting to the US Military. This experience allows him to bring a broad perspective to finding solutions to the issues faced by clients on a daily basis.

After serving eight years as a Personnel Actions Specialist in the US Army, Norris relocated to the Bay Area to pursue his education. While attending school Norris worked in the software development industry and as an accountant in the insurance industry.

As a technical assistant to the project manager, Norris played a key role in bringing Masterclips 6000 to market in 1994. As project manager, Norris brought FormTool Gold v2.0 to market in 1995. After the release of FormTool Gold, Norris turned his interests to public accounting. However, FormTool Gold became the number one selling forms creation software package in the Bay Area in January of 2006.

To keep a promise made after receiving an academic scholarship to complete the final two years of his undergraduate degree, Norris formed Norris D. Smith Professional Services. The company started in November 1996. The company was formed to provide high quality accounting and tax services to individuals and small businesses in underserved areas at an affordable price.

While completing his graduate degree, Norris also worked in the accounting department of a major insurance company. In 1998, as a result of reorganization, Norris transferred to Chicago to work in corporate headquarters of that same insurance company.

When Norris completed his graduate degree in 1999, Norris returned to public accounting in the tax division of American Express TBS. For nearly four years Norris served high net worth individuals in the Service – Non-Profit department of American Express TBS. During this time Norris D. Smith Professional Services remained dormant.

In 2003 Norris resumed operations in Norris D. Smith Professional Services which has become Norris D Smith CPA, LLC.. Since 2003 clients have included churches, a seminary, an antique vehicle restoration company, a non-profit consultant, an investment group and several other individuals and small business.Norris is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and has served as assistant coach on youth baseball and basketball teams.
